As pet owners and lovers, we know that the day will eventually come when we must make the hard decisions as to fix what we can or to simply say good-bye. Kate had been a part of my life for over thirteen years. That was a long time to have a loyal friend and companion. When the time came to make the hard decision, I had to take into consideration what Kate had been to me and to my family, then what her quality of life would have been if I had taken the “do whatever it takes” road. Every situation, every pet, and every owner is different, and I feel that each decision is very personal. Here is Kate’s story…

Cushings Disease and Addison’s Disease…what are these? Chances are, you don’t know. I mean, unless you are a vet or you’ve had a personal experience with either of these diseases, you would probably have no reason to know about them. Technically speaking, they are the opposites of each other. For both of them, you have the option of using traditional medicine or holistic medicine. My boarder collie, Payton, is being treated for her Addison’s using traditional methods while our “possibly Cushings” dog, Kate, may get holistic treatments. It is super important to know that there are options for each one and that every pet owner should do their own due diligence in deciding which option would be best for their pet, their family, and their wallet. The other thing to keep in mind is that the holistic approach can sometimes be more time consuming than the traditional treatment can. If you work a full time job, outside of the home, or travel a lot, this is something that you should definitely keep in mind.

Aging Dogs

Dogs all age differently; different signs of age and at different speeds. Some dogs are so graceful in growing old while others seem to go from puppy to “old lady” almost overnight. It can be difficult and sad to watch your fur-babies slow down. There are things that can be done to help keep your four-legged-loves stay happy and healthy a little longer and that includes a good healthy diet, daily exercise, and super clean supplements that will enhance and possibly lengthen their lives. After all, who doesn’t want as much time as possible to spend with our sweet babies?!
