It is really exciting to think of gifting a puppy for Christmas, isn’t it? I mean, who hasn’t seen the commercials of the little kids running down the trails, up to a big box, under the Christmas Tree, complete with a massive bow, opening it up, and the most adorable puppy pops out and smothers the child with puppy kisses! I mean, how perfect is that scene? It is something that I have dreamed of my whole life; boxes full of bouncing, licking, puppies. In reality, I am not a big advocate on giving puppies, or other pets, as gifts. Unless the receiver is one-hundred percent on board with the gift that they are receiving, it can be a very risky gift-giving endeavor. One that is, quite possibly, better off being avoided.

Traveling with pets can definitely be challenging, mostly because the majority of the travel issues that come up are not what was expected to come up. I have often said, “plan for the worse and hope for the best”. For the most part, that motto has worked our very well for me. I should also know that when I expect something to happen, it is pretty normal for the un-expected to happen. My point is, you never know what is going to happen but as long as you take it for what it is, a learning experience, and are able to be as prepared as you can, you will usually come out on top, with a happy and healthy pet.
