What happens when an actually emergency comes knocking upon your door? With the amount of fires, flooding, and land slides that California has been experiencing over the past couple of months, you would think that I would have though more about this. Unfortunately, the serious preparations don’t usually happen until you are personally affected by such a tragedy. I am hoping that my experience is a lesson learned for all of us…

Do you know what EPI, or Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency is? Neither did I, until I met Luke. At five months old, I was left in charge of Luke and discovered that he had this potentially deadly and lifelong disease. Thankfully, the maintenance is not that expensive nor is it all that complicated, like injections and continual testing. Luke simply gets two additives, to his food every morning, and he is good to go. He has gone from a nineteen pound puppy, who was on the brink of dying, to a one-hundred-fifty pound, amazingly sweet and beautiful member of our family. Happy Birthday, Luke. This one’s for you!
